After some changes, Bob continued his training at PDX BJJ/Portland Judo, receiving his black belt from Andy Hung.
Before jiu jitsu, Bob played rugby for 12 years in both Australia and America. A lifelong athlete and avid lifter, Bob cross-trains throughout the Portland metro area and has built strong relationships within the community.
At 43 years old, he is a proud father of two daughters, Layla and Lennon, and considers Andy Hung and Chris Dealy his forever Professors.
This has been my first time training jiu jitsu and felt very welcomed in this space. Achilles and Jacob are great coaches and the team is very encouraging to those of all skill levels. Lizzy is also amazing and would love to see more female energy in the gym!
Achilles is a great coach! You can tell he has many years of experience and that he lives and breathes martial arts. He treats with you respect no matter your skill level. All of the students are friendly and willing to help others when necessary. This is a great gym I highly suggest you go check it out. He is also great with kids, giving them confidence to succeed.
Our wrestling team was in Portland last weekend for the State Championship Tournament. Unfortunately the weather decided to turn to a winter snow storm, and everything closed. Achilles opened his gym to the team where they were able to get a great practice in. The facility was clean, professional, and perfect for the team’s needs. Thank you for going out of your way and being a bright light in a very snowy and icy day!
